The Master Procastinator
"How and why did Procastination enter our lives"
1It all Starts in the Mind
Its been decades since Scientists have tried to decode the human Mind.
They have created some many psychiatrical questionnaires to test the human mind but all in vain to understand one fact that is why do humans tend to overthink?
A multicentric study was done by various scientists throughout the globe, and they came up with one common answer that the people who tend to overthink are very rational thinkers but are so theoretically because they lack practicality to bring their thoughts into action.
Procastination often is related to problems with human self control, but its more of in the constructiveness of the thought process.
Every Idea starts in the mind and whether rational or not the subconscious is forced to accept its existence.

UNDERSTANDING PROCASTINATION
Procrastinators are often perfectionists, for whom it may be psychologically more acceptable to never tackle a job than to face the possibility of not doing it well. They may be so highly concerned about what others will think of them that they put their futures at risk to avoid judgment. Some procrastinators contend that they perform better under pressure, but while they may be able to convince themselves of that, research shows it is generally not the case; instead, they may make a habit of last-minute work to experience the rush of euphoria at seemingly having overcome the odds. Its more like delaying the inevitable
Procrastination is driven by a variety of thoughts and habits but fundamentally, we avoid tasks or put them off because we do not believe we’ll enjoy doing them, and want to avoid making ourselves unhappy, or we fear that we won’t do them well. People may also procrastinate when they are confused by the complexity of a task (such as writing ones exams) or when they’re overly distracted or fatigued
Psychological Roots?
Psychologists have identified various drivers of procrastination, from low self-confidence to anxiety, a lack of structure, and, simply, an inability to motivate oneself to complete unpleasant tasks. Research has also shown that procrastination is becoming fixated on negative thoughts.
CONSEQUENCES OF PROCASTINATION
Procrastination may relieve pressure in the moment, but it can have steep emotional, physical, and practical costs. Students who routinely procrastinate tend to get lower grades, workers who procrastinate produce lower-quality work, and in general, habitual procrastinators can experience reduced well-being in the form of INSOMNIA or immune system and gastrointestinal disturbance. Procrastination can also jeopardize both personal and professional relationships.
Procrastination, avoidance, and rumination are all common symptoms of depression. People with depression may struggle to plan ahead, lose confidence in their ability to follow through, and adopt “what’s the point” thinking.
With only a month left in the fall semester and final exams fast approaching, deadlines are becoming a daily occurrence for college students.
But with so many possible distractions, it’s almost too easy to let procrastination replace productivity.
Between 80 and 95 percent of college students procrastinate,I often do.
The problem of procastination is deeply depicted by the following statements:
“I think, in general, we tend to put things off until they absolutely need to get done.”
BEATING PROCASTINATION
1. Adapt and use the Pomodoro technique
Its one of the versatile and tested techniques of all time which involves breaking a task into small different segments and solving each of them like mini problems.
The effective way to use the Pomodoro has been effectively described here:
2. Allow for planned procrastination
Now this is my personal favourite where i allow timed procastinations to come to me at intervals because especially when you are in Med school you cant hope but get agitated by the tireless notes you write and keeping it all in the mind is difficult. Keep a sticky note next to you and every time a non-study related task pops into your mind, add it to the list then carry on with your work.
3. Reward yourself
Reward your hard work with:
• An episode of your favourite TV show (I’m addicted to Peaky Blinders)
• A good shower
• A phone call to a friend
• Your coffee,or any food stuff
• Listening to the best music(i would soon release a blog of my fav music to pass the feeling of procastination)
Knowing there’s a reward later will help you stay focused and reduce procrastination.

AFTERTHOUGHTS
Everyone has to understand that procastination is an essential part of life and everyone suffers from it at some or the other time in life.
Procastination often leads to thoughts of regret, depression but they are all parts of development of ones personality. To beat it is to actually know yourself.
Once you know yourself, your passion, you wont need procastination, its a reality which your subconscious will manifest automatically
